…Offers 2000 scholarships, 1000 Orlu students for AI training
Ahead of his scheduled celebration of one year in office as Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone) in the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso says he moved the motion for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as well as another motion for the creation of proposed Orlu State In Southeast.
This is even as he disclosed the award of scholarships to 2000 Orlu indigenes, including the free training of additional 1000 Orlu youths in Artificial Intelligence, AI.
Senator Izunaso who briefed media executives in Owerri,Imo State capital, yesterday, described his motion for the IPOB leader’s release as his landmark motion in six months.
The ranking senator expressed belief that Kanu’s release would bring peace in the South East, adding that invoking the Noelle Prosecui clause in the constitution remained a better political solution.
Hinting more on the on-going effort to secure the IPOB leader’s release, Senator Izunaso said Senators and Governors from the South East have met over Kanu’s issue.
Thanking Governor Hope Uzodinma for what he has done in bringing down insecurity in Imo.
On the proposed creation of Orlu State as an additional state for the South East, he said his move was making progress at the Federal level but added that it required the input of Mr.President and the Governors in order to determine the actual name of the new state.
Izunaso said the idea of the proposed Orlu State cannot be faulted since it comprises local governments in both Imo and Anambra states. He however, stated his willingness to support the idea of Anim State,if such would eventually fly.
On infrastructure, the Federal lawmaker noted that he started the Ideato Erosion control project, revealing that the Ideato nation and Njaba have huge Erosion problems.
Izunaso further hinted that he has done a lot including plans to have an international conference centre in Orlu Zone, amongst his other projects and interventions in the past one year.
